How Embarrassing..

13 March 2015

I thought that it would be fun to write down as many embarrassing moments about my life as I can remember at the moment. Maybe not so fun for me. Suddenly remembering something embarrassing that has happened to you can be incredibly cringe worthy. (this gif knows whats up)

Maybe voluntarily recalling them and writing them down will be easier? At the very least it will document them so that my embarrassing moments will never be forgotten, by me or by anyone.
What a terrible idea.

In no particular order, my personal cringe worthy moments.

  •  Recently I bought 2 bottled waters from a cafe, and when the lady handed me back the change, I politely handed her back one of the notes because I thought she had given me too much change. I had to ask her for the money back after Josh started asking what the heck I was doing.
  •  In High school doing a 400m race at the Athletics Carnival, I was amazingly not at all coming last, even though I do not exercise. I threw myself over the finish line, or what I thought was the finish line. Once I had got back up due to friends yelling at me from the sidelines, I finished second last, to someone who was cartwheeling the race..
  •  When I was in America I was staring at some guy in a Starbucks, only because he was carrying 8 large coffees and I was super interested how he was going to get out the door balancing all that coffee. My staring was completely obvious, he noticed, and after he managed to open the door I flashed a double thumbs up.. and then shrank into my seat because WHY did I do that. Australians.
  • During my first driving test, I was acing it, and I was almost back to the start. I turned into a super wide street and went so far across that I was driving in the parking lane. The driver politely mentioned that I needed to be actually on the road, to which I swerved back onto the road suddenly. I failed.
  •  I climbed up a low, outdoor stage in the third grade. I fell down onto concrete, was a tad unconscious. An ambulance came and took me away. They put a neck brace on me and there were many rumours from other 8 year olds that I had broken my neck, my back, my legs, I was never coming back etc. I had a mild concussion but I was fine, and was known for the remainder of Primary school (K-6) as the girl who fell off the stage.
  •  I went in a singing competition/talent quest when I was maybe 11, to which I forgot the words to the second verse. I promptly started crying and ran off stage.

EDIT: I did think of another two! Ha.

  •  I was given an opportunity to have a trial run as a waitress at a local pub. The first job they gave me was to scoop ice-cream into cones, and I said oh man I used to work in a ice-creamery so this will be sweet. I immediately knocked the mug of hot water used for the scoop onto the floor which by some miracle didn't shatter.

The rest of the night followed suit, awkwardness, delivering food to the wrong people, not being able to carry stuff. Needless to say, I'm not a waitress and I will never be.
  •  I worked in an ice-cream store when I was about 16. I hadn't worked there very long and one shift was ending so we had to turn the signage lights off. The switches were in a little cupboard at the back of the store. I went around, and switched the lights off and closed the cupboard. Before turning to do something else. This doesn't even seem like something that could actually happen, but the freaking cupboard door fell off the wall and TURNED OFF EVERY SWITCH as it fell. I'm talking freezers, the register, fridges, the soft serve machine.

I remained calm and we reset and restarted everything while my coworker panicked and ran about like a madwoman. We fixed everything obviously. And I didn't get in trouble for this unfortunate accident, but I did get a lecture about being too calm and not taking the situation seriously enough. Ha.

Now it's your turn ! Don't leave me hanging. Comment with an embarrassing moment. I promise I won't laugh.. much.

Cya xx

  1. I have overactive saliva glands, and though I'm really good at staying on top of it, one time in high school I was sitting across from a boy and my mouth wasn't as closed as I thought it was.... I totally didn't notice until he said something, to which I blushed and cleaned up the drool with my sleeve! >,< Not the highlight of my life, but he said it was cool and that it's good to see someone who's so put together mess up sometimes.... yay? ;)

  2. Ahh driving tests do funny things to people. I should know, I failed mine twice, oops. One of my embarrassing moments that really sticks in my mind is when during the first week of secondary school I left the toilets and walked down the whole of the corridor wondering why people were staring and laughing, to realise I had tucked my skirt into my tights, mortified wasn't even the word! xx

  3. Hahahaha I love reading about embarrassing moments, even if they weren't exactly enjoyable for you to write about. One of my embarrassing moments was on the first day of school after the summer holidays. I walked into my classroom and one of my friends I hadn't seen in a while yelled my name. I was so excited I ran towards her and tripped over two school bags falling face first onto the floor. Everyone was laughing. :') :'(

  9. I would be here all day with embarrassing moments...I'm sure that a day doesn't go by where I don't do something foolish!

I suppose the most painful of them was as a kid, I think about 6 years old? I thought it would be cool to pretend I could fly, so I grabbed one of the kitchen chairs (a metal, fold up one), and proceeded to slide up and down the kitchen in between the seat itself and the backrest. It wasn't until I was about to stop, that two of the chair legs got a bit stuck, sending the chair falling, with me still in it. I ended up cracking head open, and have a lovely scar on my forehead to prove it.

What isn't funny is the fact that I got taunted by a clown at one of my old jobs (he was 'entertainment' in the shopping centre), and kept shouting to passers-by that I was Harry Potter's long lost sister, just because I happen to also wear glasses.

    1. Hahaha omg. That's pretty shit of the clown though, because honestly you never know where someone got one of their scars, it could have been from something traumatising! And he kept taunting you about it! On the same note, I used to always pretend to be "Harriet" Potter as a kid lol. xx

  10. Gosh I've had so many embarrassing moments in my life I don't even know where to start haha.

I'll go with this one: when I was 17 I had the biggest crush on a boy from school called Theo. One day, I was coming out of class and I saw Theo talking to a couple of my friends at the top of the stairs. My friends tried to talk to me as I walked past but I was trying to look cool/uninterested in front of Theo so I pretended that I was in a hurry and said I couldn't stop to chat. I think I even flicked my hair as I sprinted down the stairs looking all cool...until suddenly my knee (literally) went weak and I fell down the stairs, FRONT ON, in front of everyone.

So yeah that was embarrassing... Funny enough we still dated after that haha.

    1. I have a similar story, except the boy I liked stopped to tie his shoes on the staircase and I playfully and without any thoughts pushed him down the stairs a little bit. Needless to say I felt very sorry, and also we still dated ha. xx

  12. Oh geez I have so many myself lol. I had to LOL at the American one. I had so many moments when I was in the states. Especially when it came to food. Like turkey bacon. I thought was actual turkey meat and I don't like turkey meat. By the time I realised how stupid I sounded, obviously it was too late. Same thing went for buffalo wings. I turned my nose up at them at a sports bar and made comments about it. Again too late when I realised buffalo don't have wings. Australians! (Thing is I did know all this before I went there, I just kinda blanked out and had bimbo moments!)

  17. hahahah this was so much fun to read! The change thing happens with me all the time, I can't calculate fast and sometimes solely rely on trust that the person has returned me my change correctly.
