Minimalist / Monochrome Wardrobe Makeover - Inspiration

If you're a follower I'm sure you would have seen that recently I won some money through a blogging competition, and my plan for said money was to go on a shopping spree on my birthday at a big mall in Sydney. A well thought out and not crazy shopping spree. But a spree none the less.

I've decided that I wanted to give my wardrobe a makeover and start shopping smarter. More quality over quantity and less purchases on things I'm not 100% in love with and will never wear.

I've created a pinterest board filled with inspiration specific to redoing my wardrobe but I'm not having the best luck, so feel free to link to your pinterest in the comments.

My plan for the new wardrobe is a lot more minimal, a lot less colour and a lot more black, white and grey. With stripes and denim thrown in for good measure. I do have some burgundy and khaki and random stuff still in my closet, which are good and I'm not going to be throwing them away. But I'm going to try and shop for a lot more basics.

I'm loving the minimal/monochrome style, and I want it to work for me! I've been inspired by a lot of different bloggers lately. I'm loving Amelia Goldie, a gorgeous instagrammer/blogger from Sydney.

I have also been getting inspired by Prudence Richardson from "A Broke Girls Blog", another awesome Aussie Blogger/Instagrammer. She dresses in a bit more colour but is still all about being minimal. Plus she has great style!

I've picked some of my favourite basic looks from my wardrobe pinterest board to just give me some ideas on what I will be looking for when I go shopping in a week's time. I'm super excited btw. I found it hard to find outfits that weren't for cold weather. I guess as it's getting cooler in the Northern Hemisphere.

As well as outfits that were for warmer days all had jeans! Which is fine I just like to wear shorts when it is super hot outside.

Anyway this will be the first time I will be clothes shopping with more of a set theme on how I would like to dress in mind. That's not usually the case. Dressing in monochromes is going to be fun! I'm still not ready to commit to a capsule wardrobe though. Maybe one day.

Do you tend to dress a certain way, or in a particular colour scheme? Or do you just wear whatever takes your fancy?

  8. I like to wear clashing patterns together. But I also have monocrome days, and then clashing prints in monocrome.
Dressing this way makes me feel a connection to my clothes as I'm expressing my inner self.
    Extreme comfort is felt.

    Also:
We have the same hair stylist now after your IG post tagging Chantelle of Co. Hair.
She is great, and the vibe of Co. Hair is just what I need after a busy week.

I'm really enjoying reading your thoughts and recommendations. I find similar comfort in coffee, plants, clothes and good hair.

    Cheers,
    Lindsey
