Mini Kylie Cosmetics Haul & Review

24 October 2016

I've been a fan of Kylie Cosmetics since I bought myself the Dolce K lipkit and loved it! I managed to get a hold of the lipkit after the pesky brush issues had been fixed so I had nothing but good things to say about it. I bought myself another lipkit shade a bit later, a pretty nude shade "Exposed". But I had been eyeing off a pinkier shade for a while. Something a bit more suited for the Spring weather that we're in.

When they had $5 international postage for 48 hours I decided that this was the time to strike. Why not get myself the Bronze Kyshadow Palette and Black Kyliner while I'm at it.

Here's how they went.

Kyshadow - The Bronze Palette

I had only one eyeshadow palette previously. The Urban Decay Naked 2 palette which I adore. When it comes to makeup, and a lot of things actually, I'd rather have a few good options, then quite a lot of lower quality ones.

I love how this bronze palette has a lot of matte shadows. I do love to have some glitter on the lid, but when I'm trying to carve out the crease or add dimension I want mattes. There's a great base shade and a lot of great browns which is exactly what I was looking for. I'm not very experimental with eyeshadow shades. But that's okay. I'm still learning anyway. The shadow is pigmented to the right amount and applies really well in my opinion.

Liquid Lipstick - Candy K

My Springtime shade. A bit darker than Koko and lighter than Posie. I know I made the right choice in pink shades. But so far I've found if I also do the eyeshadow on my eyes, with this shade of pink it's a bit much. With a basic eye makeup though the pink lipstick looks amazing! I was already a fan of the liquid lipstick though. I find it doesn't dry out my lips and it lasts for ages!

That's why I have three shades after all. I could definitely go with trying out some more. But you know, trying to be money savvy.

Black Kyliner

Okay so I am terrible at eyeliner. Wow so terrible. I blame the fact that one eye is more hooded than the other, which means that I can't really apply the same thickness of eyeliner on both eyes, cause it looks weird. Which makes it even harder.

I had a thought that maybe I could do a better job with a brush than with well any other method I've tried so far. I've given it too shots currently, and let's just say there's room for improvement. I really like the texture and consistency of the liquid eyeliner in the pot, and it has good staying power. My only negative comment is that the brush is a bit prickly. I find when I'm trying to line closer to the inner corners of my eyes it can get very itchy and unpleasant. While I wouldn't love to have to go buy a different brush, I still would as the eyeliner works fine.

Overall?

Pretty darn happy with my purchase. I don't buy makeup very often and am not one to splurge. I still haven't been to Mecca since it opened at Charlestown! What is wrong with me?? If another shade of Kyshadow appeared that tickled my fancy I would probably give it a go. But for now I'm going to save my money and practice using my eyeliner.

Cya! xx

  2. I haven't tried the Kylie lip kits, but I heard that they are similar to Colourpop. I'm with you about having only a limited selection but of good quality makeup products. There's no point in spending tons of money on cheaper stuff if it isn't as good as a select few quality products.

  5. I haven't tried anything from Kylie's line as I've never been into the Kardashians so I don't really know anything about her, but those liquid lipsticks in particular are getting so much hype! I think it's so lol that she named her products kyhadow and kyliner though, I can't tell if I love that or hate it. But the palette does look really pretty and like it's got a lot of great shades that I would wear.

A tip with the eyeliner is that it doesn't actually have to be perfect. I've been doing it daily for years and years now and no one really notices if it's perfect or not, because your face is always moving when they're talking to you. Seriously, close enough is good enough and no one will know any different. Also if you do decide you want to buy a new brush, Zoeva has an awesome super thin winged liner brush that's around $10-12 on BeautyBay.com :)
