Beauty Haul - Sydney Trip

15 November 2015

I promised to spill the deets on my Sydney trip purchases, and here's part one. My beauty product buys. The majority of what I bought was from Sephora but I also had my first visit to Lush which did not disappoint! There will be many more visits in the future.

So here are 5 beauty products that I bought during my shopping trip to Sydney, with a quick mini review on each one.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation - 5/5

We've all heard good things about this foundation. It was on my list to try but at $50 I was a bit unsure, and I also thought that I would feel it was too thick and heavy on my face as it's full coverage. But I definitely do not. I love it. It is my favourite foundation that I have ever tried without a doubt. I sent people selfies on my cheeks to be like, look I braved the wind and rain all day and my foundation is still flawless. Amazing. All of my contour, highlighter and blush sit and blend really well with it as well. Pretty much my favourite purchase.

Sephora Pro Buffing Brush #62  - 2/5

The Sephora lady suspiciously was pushing me towards a beauty blender, even though this was more expensive. I can't even link to it online as they've taken it off the online store, because this brush is just awful. My first expensive brush purchase, at $53, and while it blends and does a great job of applying my foundation. I spend literally the entire time picking the bristles out of my face! I have ELF brushes, that was about $45 for a 7 pack, and the hairs don't fall out of those! I'm infinitely disappointed with this one Sephora, what were you thinking. If I could return it I would, because it is shit.

Tarteist Clay Paint Liner - 4/5

I was keen to try a liquid eyeliner that I could apply with a brush. As I really wanted to up my eyeliner game. Because I'm pretty terrible. I can never seem to put the right amount on. I'm definitely improving since starting with this but am not yet even close to being an expert. Once you take the lid of the eyeliner, you can squeeze a small amount of black eyeliner out and it sits on like a flat lip part of the tube that you can dip the brush into. I also thought that the brush was going to be really hard to use because look at that funky shape! Definitely easier than I assumed it would be. It's also pretty long wearing.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Highlighter in Moonstone - 5/5
Praise this product. Originally I thought nah, it's too expensive. But I will likely use every last bit of this highlighter and then I will buy it again. Amazing. Nothing I've ever had before even compared to this. Did I even highlight before this?? I mean I heard it was good, but yeah. If you want to buy a fantastic highlight first go. Don't waste your money on anything else in the hope that it's as good as this is.

Lush Let the Good Times Roll Facial Cleanser - 4/5

Even though unlike Sephora, Lush is actually a pretty common store here in Australia. I just never went to one. The only Lush in my town is pretty small I suppose, but I finally grabbed Josh and in we went. I asked lots of questions because I was completely clueless. I knew I wanted to buy something but I had no idea what. I have a lot of trouble with my nose peeling so I decided I wanted a scrub type thing that was also a bit more gentle. This cleanser smells amazing. Which is almost requisite I would say for any Lush product. It smells of sweet caramel popcorn, and I was surprised to actually find popcorn in there when I got home and opened it! As a first Lush product experience, it was a good one.

Looking unimpressed but wearing all my makeup purchases

Anyway, I hope you liked my mini reviews. I definitely enjoyed getting these products. I know a lot of them are old news, but if you're not too much of a beauty buff, and like me are well behind in the makeup trends. Then now you know some of the most fabulous things available at the moment.

Hope you're having a good weekend!
Cya! xx

  4. LET ME TELL YOU THAT MOONSTONE IS AMAZING. I bought one of these last April-ish and I'm one of those girls that like to highlight in a way that'll blind people when they look my direction. I already hit pan, but there's still a lot more left to go - I wouldn't be surprised if it lasts around 1.5 years after heavy usage. I've heard good things about that Tarte liner, I've been itching to try it but I have to finish up my current one first!

  6. There is NOTHING worse than a brush that sheds in my opinion, ugh. I would contact Sephora to see if you can arrange a return.

I've heard a lot about Lush skincare and I'm really keen to try them out!

  7. You look gorgeous! And now I want to try that highlighter. Do you use it all over, or just in targeted spots?
