5 Ways to Start Fresh this New Year

New Year, New You! Not really, but you can still start out 2015 on the right track! I've rounded up 5 ways to help you start fresh now that it's finally a new year. Of course it's never too late to do any of these things, the beginning of 2015 is just a good excuse to.

Over an entire year you tend to accumulate a lot of stuff. New clothing that you were going to wear, books you are totally going to read, a novelty mug, a fluffy pen, multiple dust bunnies. But no need to fret! Now is the time to clear all that stuff out so that you can start your collecting all over again.

Declutter Your Closet
Start by going through and taking out everything that you no longer like, no longer fits you, or is damaged (you were totally going to learn to sew and fix that hole though). Donate it, sell it, bin it. Get rid of it.  Tidy your closet up. Arrange it by colour, season, arm length, however you want. Just make it a little bit easier to rummage through on a Monday morning. What remains in your closet hanging, turn the clothes hanger around so it's facing towards you, (rather then to the back of your closet) and after a certain amount of time, the end of the season or even the year, all the things that haven't been turned back around, AKA worn at all, girl they gotta go.

A good habit. Start your day with a sun salute, or a green tea. Make it a daily thing. Allow a little time for yourself. Actually floss daily. Those kinds of habits.

Start a Skincare Regime
Wash your face when you wake up. Use a face wash that isn't going to clog your pores or take away too much of your natural skin oils. Clear away anything you have missed with a toner. Apply any eye creams, anti-ageing lotions and/or pimple treatments. Then lock in all in with a good moisturiser. I use one with an SPF+ to give my skin some regular daily protection from the sun.

If you are an absolute wreck, if you're constantly late for things, double booking yourself and are generally a mess. Now's the time to fix that, girl you gotta get organised.

Use a Calendar/Planner/Diary/Phone
My favourite thing to use is my phone calendar. My iPhone is kind of my life, my personal assistant. It has my yearly planner basically, all my work shifts, general events, birthdays, reminders, to do lists. Plus it syncs with my desktop computer and my iPad. I always have at least one on me, so if I'm asked if I am free on a certain day, boom I can tell you in one moment. I can set myself alarms to wake up for all of the week, for all the different times I have work. I also use a cute calendar for both cuteness, and quick glances can tell me what days I have plans.

Get yourself a planner, start using your phone calendar, use whatever form you like and that will keep you motivated to keep using. This is the year you get your shit together!

I made 6 resolutions this year, and if I want them to be fulfilled then I can start making some goals and plans that will help me achieve them. Such as buy a bike, I can find one that I want, and start a savings plan towards finally owning that bike, and then I will aim to fulfil the goal of actually riding my bike around the city.

Create a List of Goals
Each resolution will have a few mini goals that will all combine when you're done to help achieve the main resolution at hand! If your resolution is to lose weight, think about what can help you do that. Find a fitness buddy, start eating more fruit, go on a walk 4 times a week. The goals can be as big or small or as challenging as you want them to be, as long as they help you on the way to completing your main resolution!

Yawn. Is it 12pm and you've only just got out of bed? Or maybe it's 3am and you're thinking jeez maybe I should probably sleep soon. These are signs that you should fix your sleeping pattern.

Go to Bed
I understand if you have to stay up late to work, or to finish assignments on a daily basis, your sleeping pattern can go down the toilet. If you don't have a regular routine then it's really easy to slip into a late nights late mornings kinda of sleeping ritual, which can be annoying for you and your family. You're groggy during the day, you wide eyed at night. Set a constant wake up time, even if you're still a bit sleepy get up anyway. (preferably do this on a day off) Set yourself with a regular bedtime. Life is pretty all over the place so obviously you can't wake up and go to bed at the same time everyday but do you really want to be sleeping your life away?

Thanks for reading everyone! I hope everyone is having a great start to the new year! I am so excited for 2015! I think it's going to be great!
Cya ! xx
