Before I let myself buy a single pretty thing for this room, I wanted before shots to compare everything to once it was done, so here we are.
I still love this doona cover and we're keeping it, I just want to build the rest of the room's styling around it once the new one arrives.
For money and organisation reasons I'm doing one room a month instead of trying to fix the whole house at once. Slower, but a lot smarter on the wallet, I'm not made of money here. The decking is somewhere on this year's list too, so the bedroom had to get in line.
A whole month per room also means I actually have time to find what I need instead of grabbing whatever's cheapest and closest. So the room for June is the Bedroom.
My side of the bed is staying almost exactly like this because it's already neat, but there's some serious bedside table styling coming, think art, books, and my little air plant obviously gets to stay. Josh's side is getting the same treatment whether he likes it or not. He'll just have to love it.
Storage was the bigger problem. We've got a huge built in wardrobe but nowhere for undies, socks and pyjamas, so instead of a chest of drawers we went with two IKEA Kallax 2x4 units. Best decision, it makes more of a statement than any drawers would have and the whole thing, baskets included, was cheaper than a proper dresser. The top of it is looking pretty sad right now with one lonely plant and an oil burner, but it's getting some decor and an art piece soon enough.
So there you go, this room could double as a blanket fort in its current state and honestly I wouldn't even mind. Can't wait to show you the after. My one real complaint is the walls, they're a yellowish beige I'd repaint white in a heartbeat if it wasn't a rental. You can only do so much when you don't own the walls.
