Finding A Fitness Routine That Works Is Easier Than You Think

19 December 2019

At times it can be difficult to even know where to start or what advice to take when beginning your fitness journey. There are however a couple of easy tips and tricks that can set you along the right path on your fitness journey.

Turn Your Focus Inwards

When you are just starting out its important to be reasonable and to manage your initial expectations. What works for someone else may not be exactly right for you. With that in mind try not to obsess over other people but turn that focus towards yourself and achieving your own personal goals.

In the early stages, it is important to set achievable fitness goals and targets to get you along the right path. How big or little these changes or targets are is entirely up to you. If your fitness baseline is that of a complete beginner then gauge your effort accordingly. You should expect yourself to be doing long daily workouts from the getgo and you could ultimately end up causing injuries and hampering your progress

Start out simple and try to develop a fitness routine that works for you. Even 10 minutes every other day will set you along the right path which you can further develop and increase as you see fit.

Seeking Good Advice

The internet is littered with fitness advice. YouTube can be an excellent source of inspiration and information with many channels providing you with a number of different exercises that you can complete on your own without the need for any equipment. Additionally, it's important to try and complete these exercises safely to reduce the risk of injury and by watching various videos on the exercises you can gain a better understanding of how to execute them.

Channels such as Athlean X cover a range of different exercises for people of all different levels but there are many many more out there. It's important to do your research and find what works for you.

If you have the means you may consider signing up for a local gym or finding a personal trainer. Asking for good advice from people with more experience can greatly benefit you on your fitness journey. Many good personal trainers can offer you that much need support and motivation to help you on your way to achieving your fitness goals.

Of course, it is important to remember that you should never feel pressured to join a gym or follow this path. When you are starting off there are many things you can do at home in a safe and secure environment. Again it is about finding what is best for you. Do your research and tailor your routine to suit you.

Listen To Your Body

The most important thing you can do is listen to your body and know your own limits. When you start your training,
Remember to start out small and work your way towards the bigger changes. Too much too soon can result in injury and be a massive shock to your system. Be realistic and gauge the level of effort you can sustain in the early stages. Fitness is a marathon, not a sprint.

Sometimes you just need to take control of the smaller things. Simple things like comfortable trainers and quality insoles, a planned cardio route or an at-home schedule will all play huge roles in your success.

Whatever path you choose, finding a routine and getting into a rhythm that works for you is key to success.
