Why You Shouldn't Move House Just Yet

30 July 2021

Some people may be so eager to move house that they don't care what the consequences might be. Instead, they want to leave their current homes as soon as possible and find a new one without considering if it's a good idea or not. So, this article will discuss some of the reasons why you shouldn't move house just yet, which may help you decide whether or not your next home is worth moving for.

Saves Money

I'm sure you're excited about the idea of moving into your own place, but it's not always a good idea. Sure, living rent-free is fantastic when you finally move out of your parent's house and in with friends. But it's not always a good idea to move home for work.

Let's say you're moving for a job in San Francisco, but your new salary doesn't cover the high cost of living there, and you end up spending all that money on rent instead of saving it like you planned or, even worse, getting into debt to make ends meet. That doesn't sound good! So before making any rash decisions, you should make sure that the cost of living is manageable for your income. You should be asking important questions like, "what will my living expenses be?", "how much rent can I afford?", "how much do I have saved up?", and more, so that you get a fair idea of your situation before you move.

In addition, if other things in your life have changed, like a new school or a different level of commute time, then it might not be worth moving at all! But, on the other hand, your old place may still work just fine and saving up enough to cover those extra costs might not be a bad idea.

Furthermore, moving comes with its costs. For example, hiring a House Removalist, however necessary they are, will require a mover's fee.

Sentiments and Memories

Sentiment and memories are among the most important things we carry with us. They shape who we are, give a sense of belonging to those near and dear to us, help guide our decisions, or in some cases, prevent them from being taken. For example, if you suddenly relocate for work without consulting your partner first, they may feel that their opinion is not valued. It's even more important to pay attention to the sentiment and memories of your children if you decide that a move will be for their benefit, as they may feel uprooted or abandoned by this decision.

We all know how difficult it can be to uproot oneself from one home and find another in a different location. That's why we suggest that you should only consider moving house if there is an emergency, such as a health issue for example. Otherwise, the best thing you can do for your well-being is not to move out and enjoy your home and the good memories it holds.

You Can End the Boredom With New Decor

It can be tempting to want to move house when you start getting bored of your décor, but there are some excellent reasons not to. If the reason for wanting a change is that it's too much work or expensive, I would suggest looking at smaller projects like painting an accent wall, adding new curtains/blinds, switching up furniture for a fresh look, or adding some new throws and cushions.

If you're just bored of the same old décor, then I would suggest getting creative with it! For example, by changing up your lighting to something brighter (maybe using fairy lights), buying throw pillows in different colours for added pops of colour, rearranging furniture pieces so that there's a new flow to the home, or purchasing some plants!

Learn How To Deal With Bad Neighbours

It can be pretty tough to deal with your bad neighbours. But you don't have to move house just yet! Here are some tips on how to take care of the situation: Start by being neighbourly and try having a conversation in person. They might not realise that their music is too loud, or they may not even know they're bothering you.

If that doesn't work, try to keep in mind that neighbours have the right to enjoy their property just like you do yours.

With all of these points in mind, you should be able to make a more informed decision about whether or not your house is worth moving to. You now know the facts and can weigh up what might be best for you. If you are still unsure after reading this article, then don't do anything too hastily because doing so may just end up costing you more.
