January Round Up

31 January 2016

January has reached a rather speedy end. It seemed to go quickly, yet not too fast. If you know what I mean. Instead of occasional life lately posts, I'm only going to be doing end of month round ups, but they're going to cover a variety of random stuff. So it's better! Probably!

I've been having a pretty good month, picking up extra hours at my second job and dropping them at my first. Which might mean a little switcheroo in which one I'd count as my first job from now on.
I've also been excitedly planning my upcoming vacation! Which I'll tell you all about shortly.

For now, let's see January.

Outfits Worn

Only one of my workplaces require a uniform. The other one means that I can dress however I want as well as take cool selfies in the large mirror when I arrive in the morning. I've been trying to be more of a monochrome gal, apart from the occasional blue denim, and I think I've succeeded. It's the middle of Summer here, and in two of these I'm wearing a coat, and jeans in a lot of the others. Yes the weather is damn stupid. Also I love my Dr Martens!

Films Watched

It wasn't a very movie filled month, and I'm more likely to watch tv shows at home than movies. I didn't actually go to the cinema many times. I did though redeem a gift card to go and see "The Hateful Eight" in Gold Class at the new Kotara Event Cinemas. So there will be a review on the movie/experience coming up this week. Anyway here's my ratings, based purely on my enjoyment level.

Films Outta 5:
Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 5/5
Goosebumps - 4/5
The Hateful Eight - 4/5
Crimson Peak - 3/5
Home - 3.5/5
Suffragette - 3.5/5
Pan - 2/5
The Ridiculous Six - 3/5

Plants Adopted

Of course there has to be this segment. It's me afterall. But only 2?? I must have been holding back. Or I've forgotten one or five.. Nah. First up is this baby Bunny Cacti in from High Swan Dive, in the lovely pot by The Weakend Club. (We stock these at Scout!) On the right is a Fiddle Leaf Fig in a cute marble pot and white stand, both from K-Mart. I also already have a Dwarf Fiddle Leaf Fig. But this one is better, because it can grow giant and that's my whole plant jam.

Notable Moments

I had a good month! I worked a lot, which is pretty regular for me anyway. But I try not to let it get me down when it comes to having fun in my free time.

Finally finding time to catch up with Tilly for tea at The Tea Project, and reviewing it at the same time. We laughed, we chatted, we drank tea. She sent me sassy emojis because wasn't I meeting her at the place?? A great time was had, can't wait to go back.

Multiple beach days with my mum was so great and chill. Daylight savings means I can turn up to the beach at 5.30pm on a nice day and stay til 8pm and it's still sunny and hot and good. I actually have a bit of a tan going as well. Going to the beach is an easy decision if I know that my Mum is already there, in her little beach towel with her polar bear esky.

Josh and I walked all the way to the Sunset Gather Markets. Which is kind of far but not that far. I bought a beaut print from this gal "Daggy Jess" and I can't wait to go back and buy another, larger print next time. We then walked all the way back and got gelato from Monella. Banana Split Gelato! Yum! We ate our treat in the cute local Community Gardens, that I always drive past but never visit.

What's in Store for February

I am just brimming with excitement! On the 9th of February I set off on a 10 day vacation with Josh, around the Pacific Islands. On the cruise ship Voyager of the Seas. If you wanted to google that, it has a mini golf course, ice skating, and a rock climbing wall, among a whole other variety of things. Such as way more pools than you would think there would be on a boat.

This will be my 4th Cruise I believe. I love them! The last time I went on one it was 5 years ago! So I hope I still love them and that Josh enjoys his first time on a cruise too.

When I return I have a wedding to attend, as well as joining in on a local podcast called Splitting Cases where we will be talking about Marvel! So I'll have to see Deadpool before the chat!

It's looking to be a great year! So stick around! xx

I've never been on a cruise it half sounds like fun but the other half terrifies me because I don't like being surrounded by just the sea and seeing no land hahaha

I know what you mean about January being quick but not too quick, it has been quite an odd start to the year really. I adore all your outfits shown, love the monochrome look.

  16. Your January sounds A BILLION times better than mine, and I think you've made a good call in adopting a more monochrome wardrobe - it really suits you. (Shame they wouldn't do you any favours in my wet and windy part of the world!!)
