2017 - New Year's Resolution

31 December 2016

The worst year ever? Can't 2016 just hurry up and end, right? It couldn't go out without taking a few more beloved celebrities with it. Instead of resolutions I could just follow this goal for the year.

Did you see how I went with my goals last year? All of last years resolutions weren't particularly exciting and I didn't do that great, but I will see how I go with whatever I can up with to achieve this time around.

- Manage a Sleeping Routine & Wake Up Earlier

I'm not starting with an easy one, because I'm 24 and I'm terrible at getting my ass into bed and then getting out again. I'll place partial blame on having a partner who works night shifts, but I've always been like this. I need to make it a habit so that it's an integral part of my daily routine. Get up earlier in the morning and earlier to bed as well. Getting a good amount of sleep is important!

- Continue working on my Fitness (especially through Winter)

I get really into something, such as exercising. I become super on board and motivated, then suddenly it's gone. On to something else, such as playing Final Fantasy XV for hours on end. I'm enjoying doing my exercises but I just need to keep it as a routine as well. Make it a habit so that it's just a part of my regular life. I reached a weight that I was happy with but my body is still so squishy. I want to be toned and think hell yeah when I look back at photos of me before I started exercising.

- Make more of an Effort

This is an odd one as it relates to my behaviour at social events. I was unsure why over the years I'd become less outgoing and more secluded. I'm thinking now it has more to do with giving zero shits about communicating and making an effort with people I have no interest in talking to. A poor attitude hence the goal of actually making an effort. Like I don't have to sit in the corner and stare at my phone and the floor. Maybe that's why the party is so shit?? Also I'm always sober. I'm just not that big on drinking, or joining in with drunks when they're having an exaggeratedly good time.

- Stop Eating Meat

I pretty much only eat chicken and the occasional spaghetti bolognese. But I was never exactly okay with it. I was never an asshole about it. Wow so many people are jerks about eating meat to people who don't eat meat. People used to wave raw meat in my face like that was an okay thing to do. It's not btw. I've been getting the Veggie Box from Hello Fresh every week which is teaching me a lot of new vegetarian dishes to make. Since I'm such a noob at cooking in general.

- Actually Continue Blogging (Post once a week min!)

I love blogging and it's right up there as one of my main hobbies. But also I like getting fit, eating, watching netflix and playing the playstation.  When it comes to participating and completing my hobbies equally, I'm terrible! I get so caught up in one thing that I neglect everything else. I am passionate about this, so I want to at least post one good post a week. Not some crap just to say I did post. Something worthwhile.

- Finish my Couch to 5k App / Keep Running / Enter a Fun Run

I've been stuck on Week 5 for a while, because it starts to get a little hard and I've been repeating the days over and over to build up stamina. If i'm struggling to run for 5 minutes straight then I'm probably not ready to do the 20 minutes straight run, you understand? But I want to continue to build on this and get there! I want to jog for the entire 30 minutes like a legend, and have that 30 minutes be equal to 5km. I know I can, I just need to get there.

Okay so during the year I will make refer back to this list and see how I'm going. In fact I might put up the list somewhere I can see it daily. Because I'm really feeling this goals list. Everything is realistic and achievable if I just well make an effort.

Are you writing a resolution list? Link it to me in the comments if it's in a blog post or tell me some of them below! I'm kind of keen to get started. A new year always begins with so much hope...

  1. Everything on your list seems quite achievable as long as your committed to putting in the effort, I think it's a great list and I hope you do well with it, Happy New Year and good luck with these resolutions in 2017!

  2. Yeah, I didn't follow up on ANY of my New Years Resolutions of 2016. Which is a given, considering I didn't do anything for 2015 or the year before that. I would like to get a better sleeping routine, sleep at 11 and wake up at 6AM. Perhaps I'll start with that.

    Happy New Year, Tegan! <3

  4. I just started Couch to 5k (inspired by you a long time ago actually!) and have been loving it. I identify so deeply with most of these goals. Who knew setting myself a bedtime would be so hard?!
