Melbourne Cat Cafe

30 March 2016 Melbourne VIC, Australia

I really want a cat but I don't have one. So looks like the next best thing is visiting a Cat Cafe, and since there was one in Melbourne, I knew I had to stop by.

You couldn’t find a more perfect Photoshoot Location if you tried. If you love cats, you will literally be surrounded by them and there will be a petting and photoshoot opportunity every second.

So here's a little run down/review on my visit to the Cat Cafe. This isn't like any regular cafe, obviously, cause it's full of kitties. Which makes it the best kind of cafe in my opinion. Because of this you need to book in when you're going to attend, as well as pay for entry. They don't want to overwhelm the kittie with too many people.

Each hour of the day is a different session that you can book for. It's $10 an hour to visit, and only 15 people are allowed to be in the cafe each hour. You get a little numbered lanyard to wear, so they know that no one has snuck in to pet the kitties.

The Cafe is actually more of a large two-storey house with many rooms. You enter on the first floor and wash your hands, put on your numbered lanyard, head-on through a door with a sign saying "Watch for Cats!" and you're in the Cat Zone! There's a little area at the foot of the stairs with some beds and climbing things, but there weren't any kitties there when we walked in.

When we headed up the stairs we stepped over one black cat who was chilling without a care in the world on about the third stair from the top. I was in love already! It was lunchtime for the kitties, and they were just finishing up nomming as we walked in, so they ran off to their respective rooms and favourite napping spots.

.. Also Lottie?

In hindsight, it may have been better to visit earlier in the day, rather than at 3pm because the kitties were quite sleepy and not too keen for a play, but I still gave them lots of pats anyway.

We walked around from room to room, finding and following the kitties, cooing and giving them many pats. There were also posters on the walls with information on each resident of the cat cafe which I thought was really nice.

What a sweetheart.

One of my favourite kitties was a little guy called Chirp, you can see a close up of him on my Insta here and one of me giving him a good pettin' over here

There is a one-eyed angel cat called Ruby who had her eye removed due to infection but she is still very beautiful of course.

The Cafe also has food and beverage to order, of course, as it's a Cafe after all. There have been some negative reviews on the coffee, to which I say shut your pie hole.

We are here for the kitties aren't we? I ordered a soy chai latte, (a fav of mine) and it tasted like gingerbread which is different but completely delicious and welcome. (I love gingerbread so)

Overall, 10/10 would pat kitties again. Definitely worth visiting. I'm only sad I cannot have my own cat.

  13. Cat cafes are the best ideas! Along with dog cafes or any kind of cafe where you get to pet cute animals. My friend actually just told me about a hedgehog cafe that's just opened in Japan and it sounds like a dream come true!
