When you decide to move house and you start looking at some potential places, it’s important that you find a house where you feel comfortable. Even if the house is perfect, you won’t be happy living there if you don’t like the surrounding area. The location has a big impact on the price as well, so you can’t ignore it. These are some of the things you need to think about when trying to find the perfect location.

Your Commute

The first thing to consider is your commute to work. If you can find a great place that is only a short drive from work, you’re in luck. But the further you move away, the more expensive and time consuming it becomes to get to work each day. Even if you save money on the house, is it really worth it if you have to drive an hour each way to work every day? It’s important that you think about the length of commute that you are willing to take on, so you can discount any properties outside of that area.

Local Amenities

The estate agent will not always tell you if there is a problem, but if you set up a few viewings at different times of day, you should be able to tell if they are going to be noisy. If possible, you should knock on the door and meet them so you can get a sense of what they are like.

Feeling safe in your own home is so important, so you should always check the local crime rates in an area before you decide to move there. 

There are a lot of areas where you can get a cheap home, but only because crime rates are high and people struggle to sell. But if you move to a dangerous area, you put yourself at risk, so always check. If you do move into an area with a high crime rate, make sure that you secure your home properly to protect yourself.
